Gary Paffett (C-Klasse AMG-Mercedes), who had won the fourth round of the 2004 DTM at the Lausitzring, was disqualified five hours after the end of the race. The reason: Gary came to a halt at the end of his in-lap due to lack of fuel. The stewards considered the fact that the tank of the car did not contain the required amount of fuel of at least 1.5 litres to be an infringement of the regulations. In addition to this, it was considered that a breach of parc fermé rules had taken place. AMG-Mercedes appealed against this decision.
