The donner und blitzen on track may have taken a back seat since Michael Schumacher and Ferrari clinched their world titles, but this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix could be in for a storm of a different kind, if weather predictions prove correct.
The annual trip to Suzuka could be badly affected if tropical cyclone '26w Ma-On' reaches its target. The developing storm is tracking ominously close to Japan on both Saturday and Sunday, with its predicted path carrying it right over the top of Nagoya and surrounding towns and cities.
While it would be unwise to predict the exact path of the storm at this stage, the highest risk of disruption appears set to occur on Saturday - just in time for qualifying.
Exceptionally heavy rainfall is likely to bring severe problems on track for the teams and drivers and, almost without doubt, the event could see the wettest conditions at Suzuka for many years.
Sunday, meanwhile, faces its own problems. The persistent heavy rainfall on Saturday will lead to a wet track on Sunday morning, but any hope of a drying-up process may be short-lived as the last hook of rainfall sweeps eastwards, bringing further precipitation during the afternoon

Zou Schumacher nu ook halverwege de koers stoppen omdat hij het te gevaarlijk vind?

Bij ferrari hebben ze dat al eens gehad en ze konden er niet om lachen.
